I do not have any children yet but as a Sunday school teacher, I am learning to examine and understand the child’s spirit. The last Sunday message is all about how a parent teaches their children with wisdom, well I do not have any children yet so I guess I would not have so much conviction on this message but I believe surely God has some words for me through every message.
God has made His everlasting covenant to us and to all the generations when you believe it, even though the trials will come but will never be harm. In Deuteronomy 7:9 said, “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” Yes, He keeps His covenant of LOVE! Everything He done for us is because of LOVE. As I hear about God’s covenant, I see every problem, every situation, every trials and hardship are out of His great love for us, even to our love ones and our descendents.
In Nehemiah 9:31-33 said, “But in your great mercy you did not put an end to them or abandon them, for you are a gracious and merciful God. Now therefore, our God, the great God, mighty and awesome, who keeps his covenant of love, do not let all this hardship seem trifling in your eyes—”
From this verse, it said “do not let all this hardship seems trifling in your eye.” Sometime we see the problems in us and our loves one (including children) gives us pain and trouble but when we keep His covenant of love in us, our hearts (change) will fill with His love, mercy and hope because this is what the Lord has promised us. Yes, because of His covenant He made to us, that every problems/hardship has turn into blessing.
I have learned to confide myself to the Lord and each time I did that, God will surely speaks to me in every ways. Even when I am weak with no strength, I know God has His plans for me so I just quietly wait and hope upon the Lord. Sometime God will send some brethren to comfort me by confronting their problems to me as I also learned to more rely on the Holy Spirit to teach and counsel them. I may not be perfect in my words but the more I rely on God, the more He give me the wisdom and words for them. At the end of the day, I realized every word I teach is also meant for me, to always affirm that God is always with me and His covenant He made will maintain and never fail.
I also always learned to examine my spirit, I may have anger, self-pity, stressful, etc… but sometime things happen for a reason, this is when my heart lose the identity and purpose therefore I was indulge into my own desire ways. Maybe God is teaching me to have more confident in my own identity and purpose so that in future when I have children, I know how and why I need to teach them with God’s promises.
Isaiah 59:21 said, “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the LORD.
May we continue to affirm His covenant He has made to us and let His words flow to our descendants. Although it is not easy but as we continue to trust in Him, God will give us the strength in our heart, and it will grow more and more as we come closer to His covenant of love.
A song dedicated to you, may you are strengthen once again with God’s everlasting love and promises.
